GMColleges has always prioritised high quality careers, and careers, advice and guidance. Over the last few years we have collaborated with and supported GMCA projects to increase participation rates, remove barriers and secure meaningful destinations for all our students.
Careers
Greater Manchester Colleges have been part of the GM Careers Hub and are now an active part of the Bridge GM Community of Practice.
Working collaboratively as a group of Colleges, strong progress has been made towards the fulfilment of the Gatsby Benchmarks and the sharing of best practice, improving access to, and quality of Careers, Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) across the College group.
The group has worked together on agendas such as work placement and planning as well as responding to the targets of the Capacity and Delivery Fund (CDF).
Careers Conference
The nine Greater Manchester Further Education colleges have held their first Careers Conference bringing together college careers and student support staff from across the 10 GM districts with input from the Careers & Enterprise Company and Bridge GM.
Apprenticeships & Careers
GMCG is also supporting the development of the Greater Manchester Apprenticeship & Careers Service aimed at providing independent career advice and guidance, supporting transition and raising engagement and aspiration of learners across Greater Manchester.
Greater Manchester Young Person’s Guarantee
GMCG has supported the development of the GM Young Person’s Guarantee, initially focusing on the impact of the COVID pandemic and planning responses to potential rises in NEET rates across GM and removing barriers to digital access by creating digital entitlement for students.
“Here in Greater Manchester, we want to support young people across the whole of the city region and create hope for their futures.”
