Students across Greater Manchester are celebrating a record breaking T Level achievement after securing a 94% pass rate – exceeding the national T Level pass rate by 6%.
Our colleges are celebrating the achievement during T Levels Week (2nd-6th December) as hundreds of students also achieved higher grades than the national average, with 68% securing high grades of Distinctions and Merits compared to 62.7% on average across the UK.
Launched in September 2021, the new qualification saw the biggest shake up in post school education in the last seventy years, delivering a revolution for technical education. Designed by employers, T Levels help to plug the skills gap across the region while preparing students for the world of work.
T Level Week follows a busy recruitment period across the nine Greater Manchester Colleges, which has seen a significant increase of 58% on last year’s T Level intake (1,640 to 2,600), including 1,700 new starters embarking on their T Level journeys across the region.
The top four T Level courses which have seen an influx of new starters include, Early Years Educator, Health (Assisting Adult Nursing), Design Surveying & Planning for Construction and Design & Development for Engineering & Manufacturing (Mechanical).
Anna Dawe, GMColleges Chair, explained, “We are always so proud of our fantastic community of students, who put the hard work and dedication into achieving great results.
“A T Level qualification offers young people across our region the opportunity to gain technical skills and industry experience, preparing them for the exciting and rewarding careers ahead of them. This year we have seen high recruitment levels for a range of T Level courses that are key priority areas across the region which will ultimately help to plug the skills gaps across Greater Manchester and beyond.”
